Canada Research Chairs (CRCs) The CRC program was created by the Government of Canada to attract and retain some of the world's most accomplished and promising minds. In 2017, the Faculty of Science welcomed the appointment of three new CRCs, bringing the total number of CRCs in the Faculty to seven: • Thomas Baumgartner (Chemistry) – CRC in Sustainable Organomain Group Materials (Tier 1) • Christopher Caputo (Chemistry) – CRC in Metal-Free Materials for Catalysis (Tier 2) • Raymond Kwong (Biology) – CRC in Environmental Toxicology (Tier 2) New research chair appointment York Research Chairs (YRCs) The YRC program mirrors the national CRC program, with the goal to broaden and deepen the impact of research chairs at York.
